Touched down in Singapore two weeks ago with Singapore Airlines . Singapore is one of my favorite countries in the world, it was my third time in Singapore but the experience this time was completely different. Last two times I went with my family but this time it was more like a solo travelling experience. Exploring the country on my own terms with a totally different outlook. . I took a flight flight from Delhi to Singapore which was very comfortable and the services were much appraisable. Flights from India to Singapore are pretty reasonable and quick, about 5 hours 20 minuted from Delhi. EXPLORE
Whenever I visit a county I try to cover the place as much as possible by foot. And in a city like Singapore that has to mandatory, with such amazing tropical climate and distances at close proximity it is a delight. Singapore being a colourful city I packed as many colourful clothes I could possibly can.
Since I landed in Singapore around 5pm on my first day I went to Clarke Quay and Boat Quay in the evening, which is party hub and turns completely amazing as the night sets in. Next day was all about exploring the city on foot and getting into the spirit of National Day of Singapore. Singapore has turned 52 years old and the city was completely in high spirits to celebrate their National Day. First I visited Little India, not because I was already feeling homesick, but I had heard great things about this colourful neighbourhood. I had amazing South Indian food along with some electronic shopping, which is really cheap here. Then I headed to the Arab street which is at walking distance from Little India. You can literally visit so many cultures in one day in Singapore, which is my favourite thing about this city. The colourful Haji Lane was my on top of my list to visit, with outstanding graffitis and tons of amazing cafes lined up . After chilling there for an hour or two I headed to the Marina Area to watch the National Day Parade.
Day 3 was all about Marina Bay Sands and the area nearby. Visited the famous Gardens by the Bay which looked as if it came out of the set of the Avatar movie. The modern architectural structure was huge and absolutely beautiful.
For next 2 days I explored the Sentosa Island and experienced the various recreational activities including the Skyline Luge and iFly Singapore. Next day was all about Universal Studios, ending with a beach side dinner. On the last day I wanted to do some shopping and explore the local city food. So I headed to the Buggis Street Market where you can do some good street shopping along with great food options. Later I made a quick visit to Chinatown to explore the market and grab my favourite Thai ice tea before heading to the airport.
STAY
I stayed at 3 different properties which were completely in contrast to each other. It basically represents the diversity in hospitality Singapore has to offer apart from cuisine and lifestyle.
LLOYDS INN
You can call it a tropical paradise with concrete walls. This pretty boutique hotel is a perfect stay if you are travelling alone or as a couple. The hotel has a modern minimalistic approach with plenty of greenery to offer. For a second I thought I was staying in Bali instead of Singapore, thanks to it’s tropical ambience. The staff was super sweet and very helpful. I highly recommend Lloyds Inn to all the peace lovers who like to experiment with their hotel options.
Marina Bay Sands
Not only it builds up the modern skyline of Singapore but also stands for luxury in the arms of comfort. The hotel has so much to offer in itself including a huge mall. Marina Bay Sands has a grand casino in the hotel which is the only casino in Singapore. I did try some luck in the poker game and some how managed to win 60 dollars 😛 . The USP of the hotel is it’s luxurious infinity pool situated on the 57th floor of the hotel. The pool stretches on top of all the three towers and offers an breathtaking view of the Singapore Skyline. My hotel room was as grand as the name suggests with an amazing view of Gardens by the Bay. I would like to recommend Marina Bay Sands to all the luxury lovers who are looking for more than a hotel experience, cause this one has loads to offer other than an amazing stay.
M Social Hotel
M Social was one of a kind hotel specifically designed keeping the millennials in mind. This uptown hotel was located at a very prime location, Robertson Street. You have the best cafe’s and shopping options around it. AND did I mention the hotel’s room service is managed by robots. I know! that was the coolest part of it, every time we wanted something a cute robot used be at our service outside our room. As I mentioned before, this hotel has a very futuristic vibe to it and is specially designed keeping millennials in mind. They gave me a premium loft room, where we had chilling area downstairs and the bed was upstairs. I really enjoyed my stay at M Social and the staff was very sweet and helpful. I highly recommend this hotel if you are looking for different kind of hotel experience other than the usual.
