The dusty, temperamental Delhi weather has everyone impatient to escape to a cooler destination. For me the choice was hard, should I escape to the mountains, live in a cottage, and wake up to the refreshing smell of pine and oak, or do I go to a luxury resort to treat myself. Luckily, I didn’t have to sacrifice some much needed TLC for the rejuvenating mountain air. Hyatt Regency, Kathmandu came to the rescue. 
Nepal, a destination on the top five places to visit according to lonely planet, should be a must visit for everyone who loves the serene beauty of the mountains. The Hyatt Regency is like a calm oasis in the middle of the hustle and bustle of Nepal’s capital, Kathmandu. 
The Hyatt stood strong during the 2015 Nepal earthquake, suffering some minor cracks, representing the persistent and strong culture of Nepal that nothing can knock down. The preservation of the classical Nepalese architecture is a tribute to the culture it represents. This is what set it apart from the other hotel chains, they embraced the local culture and style, instead of using the modern style of business hotel chains. 
The hotel leaves no stone unturned when it comes to the much-needed pampering I was looking for, calming lemongrass scented aromatherapy leading me through the courtyard, decorated with the famous temples of Nepal. 
The food here is truly wonderful, breakfast spread at The Cafe is select and incredibly fresh, they offer a variety of freshly baked bread, from pumpernickel and bagels to ciabatta. The hotel hosts three casual outlets and two formal restaurants, open only for dinner offering a beautiful menu of Southern European food and tasteful cocktails. On cooler evenings you can choose to dine on the terrace overlooking the vast well-groomed gardens and the beautiful night sky.
The little cultural touches through the hotel made my stay there rather informative as I learned about the antique sculptures hand-carved by artists long gone, and the hand-woven Tibetian carpet in my room. The complex animation of the miniature temples nestled in the indoor courtyard is ideal to ponder over on the comfortable stone bench that encases the courtyard, with an enchanting view of flickering figures across the unpolished stone floor.
Being an Explorer, it has been a dream of mine to travel to Nepal and explore the rich culture it has to offer, especially the Buddhist temples. The hotel is well placed in the city, fairly close to the main attractions, encompassed perfectly within an oasis of green surrounded by the beauty of the soul-stirring Himalayas. From the moment I set my bags down in my room, welcomed by a warm color palette of faded reds and cream with exposed grain wooden flooring, I felt relaxed and at ease, knowing I had made the right decision. I recommend it to any and everyone who is looking to travel, between the pristine mountains and the opulent luxury, a trip to the Hyatt Regency, Kathmandu is one you will never forget.
