Hey Guys
I have never been very fond of handicrafts since childhood, but as I grew, my interest in fashion evolved along with my detailed study in the fashion. I realized how beautiful and gorgeous handicrafts are in themselves. Among the many treasures available in India, a universally beloved one is chikankari and my personal favourite too . Since I was born and brought up in Lucknow, I have seen this gorgeous form of embroidery almost everywhere as it is the place from where it originates.
Chikankari is an art, which results in the transformation of the plainest fabric into flowing yards of magic. Today I am wearing a serene off white anarkali kurta with chikankari embroidered on both front and back. It has been further beautified by mukaish and golden zari work in between the motifs. This gorgeous piece of art is from www.houseofivee.com which solely caters chikanakari products . They have a wonderful chikankari collection featuring kurtis, suit-lenghts, sarees and lehengas in various fabric variations. With the festive season knocking in, Chikankari would be my ideal choice to go for above the regular ethnic wear. I give a thumbs up to their pricing, as we all know how expensive this unique art is sold at the exhibitions and stand alone stores and unlikely they have a pretty decent pricing. So my mom’s birthday is coming and I know what to gift her this time 😉
