Shivi’s Personal Hair Care Routine

When it comes to hair, I don’t mess around. There’s nothing quite like a good hair day, and nothing worse than a bad one. And yes since it’s one of the most requested blog topics by you guys since the very beginning, we both decided to do two separate posts on our personal hair care regime.

I have natural straight wavy hair, though I was born with curls and without going bald in childhood ( which most of the children in India go due to certain traditions ) my hair amusingly gotten straight when I grew up and only god knows the answer to it, not even my mom. But yes, I am thankful for that. Coming to hair care I am not very particular about my shampoo or a very frequent goer for spas and hair treatments, another reason for that is I am a super lazy bum. But more than that I am an ardent believer of doing more DIY treatments at home itself.

I keep changing my shampoo every 2 months depending upon the hair condition which basically revolves around the climate change. Currently, I am using Tresemme Smooth and Shine Shampoo and Conditioner. And here I am listing down a few rules I abide by for my personal hair care regime

  • I’m a big believer that you usually look best with the hair God blessed you with! By this I don’t mean do nothing to you hair necessarily, I just mean look to your natural hair and see how you can enhance it. Enhancing your natural hair is not only (usually) really flattering for your features, but also makes life easier! So I generally step out of the house and do all my regular shoots in my natural hair and once in a blue moon if the work asks for maybe twice a month, straighten my hair at home or add a few curls with a curler.
  • I regularly wash my hair in 2-3 days  and keep conditioning them with DIY natural home made masks twice or thrice in a month.
  • For DIY masks I use naturals ingredients like mixing 2 eggs, 1 spoon of honey and 1 spoon of olive oil together and applying it as a mask for 20-30 minutes and then washing it off with the shampoo followed by the conditioner. It is a great way to condition your hair naturally.
  • Another home treatment I do at home is  chumpy-ing my hair with a blend of three oils, coconut+olive+almond and heat them a bit before applying and later washing them off after an hour.
  • Minimize the styling. On days when I know I have to, or want to style my hair with heat, I try to minimize the heat styling as much as possible! This tip plays off of the one above but instead of skipping all together, it’s all about minimizing the heat you do use. For example: if you want to curl you hair, let it air dry first and then curl it. This way your eliminating the unnecessary step of blowing drying and only using one heat styling tool instead of two! If you want to blow dry it, then skip the curler that day! Pick and choose. This also forces you to switch it up 🙂
  • Don’t skip the haircut. I can’t stress how important this is! I think a lot of people skip on haircuts thinking it will help their hair grown longer, when really it does the opposite. Trimming your hair will not only keep it pretty but healthy and strong! This is key in the long run.

Hope you enjoyed going through the post.

Love
